MOORINGS
If you are hoping to visit the area and wish to bring your boat, it can sometimes be hard to find the right mooring to meet your needs. We have a stunning, enclosed mooring area at Scoble Basin (see map below), which is about a 10 minute boat journey from Whitestand Quay in Salcombe.
The area is tranquil and peaceful holding about an acre and a half of moorings surrounded on one side by the harbour wall, and the other about an acre of land. It is a fantastically sheltered venue, protecting boats moored inside from most weathers and storms.
With the capacity to hold around 30 vessels, Scoble has a small sill on the entrance and it holds 2-3ft of water in the deepest parts of the basin all of the time. It is accessible 2-3hrs before and after high water, although boats with a shallower draught can use it longer on larger spring tides
We can currently accommodate boats up to 30ft in length, but may be able to take larger by appointment. Boats moored at Scoble basin need to either have Bilge keels or a protected prop / engine tilt in order for them to be able to dry out on the soft muddy bottom.
Scoble Basin has a selection of fore and aft moorings that are buoyed. It also has a selection of moorings that have a buoy at the stern and bow moorings to posts on the bank. Finally there are a number of small craft swinging moorings.
