This spacious stunning 3 bedroom barn conversion has been recently refurbished, respecting the original features. It has been stylishly decorated and is equipped with new furniture and fittings throughout the whole cottage.

The location is in beautiful Higher Batson, a peaceful and hidden corner of the South Hams, just a twenty-minute picturesque estuary side walk to Salcombe. There are numerous other walks, straight from the house, such as the well-known and favourite walk to Snapes Point, with stunning views over the Salcombe estuary.

This terraced barn conversion is set in a lovely little hamlet, where you can arrive without having to drive through the centre of Salcombe, so avoiding the crowds. Guests can park right outside the front door and it is very safe to let the children straight out of the car. This quiet, rural and secluded place is sheltered from the wind and brimming with wildlife.

HOUSE DESCRIPTION
This light and airy barn conversion has enough space to easily accommodate up to 6 people but is at the same time cosy enough to make smaller groups feel homely. The refined furnishings, with tasteful artwork and well-placed lighting makes this is a lovely house to stay in, unwind and relax.

You enter Sandpiper through a large porch with plenty of space to store coats and wellies which leads into the cosy sitting room, complete with a fabulous wood-burning stove and two large, comfortable sofas. In the hallway you will pass a brand-new downstairs cloakroom.

The open plan sitting area flows over into a large dining area, with an extending dining table to accommodate 8 persons adjacent to the kitchen. The back door leads out to the sheltered patio that lends itself to alfresco dining amidst an abundance of beautiful flowerbeds from the terraced garden which then leads up to a lawned area for children or dogs to play on also having further seating with a picnic bench.

The traditional kitchen is fully equipped with everything you should need and has the added convenience of a fullsize dishwasher, washing machine/dryer and fridge/freezer.

The attractive staircase takes you to the spacious landing leading into the bedrooms and bathroom. The first bedroom has a stunning stone feature wall, with a double bed, 2 bedside tables, a built-in wardrobe, a chest of drawers and a dressing table. From the window, you have a view looking out onto the communal gardens at the front of the cottage and the stunning countryside in the distance.

The next bedroom is an extremely light and airy bedroom with a double bed, 2 bedside tables, a wardrobe and a chest of drawers. This room has similar fantastic views of the garden.

The third bedroom is again, light and airy and has twin-beds, 1 side table, and a chest of drawers. The window here looks out on the quiet and beautiful terraced garden at the back of the cottage. The bathroom is newly fitted and is modern and stylish with a shower-in-bath, a large washbasin, toilet and heated towel radiator.

The rear, enclosed garden is very sheltered and is well positioned to catch most of the day’s sunshine. There is ample seating for 6 and a barbecue for al-fresco dining. It’s the place to be on a summer’s evening, a drink in hand and maybe making plans for another lovely day. This property is very child friendly because the area surrounding it is so tranquil, you can afford to relax while they explore the beautiful grounds. Dogs are also at home here.

We have lived in beautiful Dartmouth for the past fifteen years but have always held stunning Salcombe close to our hearts as being very special and a place for us to bring family and friends to on lovely summer days, often by boat. This is why we decided this year to buy a property to rent out. You have the best of both worlds here with fantastic countryside plus the exciting draw of the river and all that Salcombe itself has to offer with various eateries, walks to both South and North Sands, beautiful sandy beaches and for the walkers stunning cliff walks to Hope Cove and beyond. It is also a favourite with dog owners and boating people like ourselves . You will love both Sandpiper and Salcombe and will want to return.
