Nestled in the heart of this beautiful South Hams village, White Horses is a stunning 19th-century property, steeped in local history. Whilst the various sections of the house can be booked individually, larger parties can book the whole house.

It’s flexible accommodation has been cleverly designed for large groups but suitable enough to provide a cosy hideaway for smaller families or couples. With a coastal or river view from most windows, this beautiful house sits magnificently above the Avon Estuary within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and newly introduce Marine Conservation Zone.

The unspoilt village of Bantham itself is an absolute joy. With its own local pub and a well-stocked village shop, it's friendly locals are in abundance, ready to point you in the direction of the best surf, the finest cream tea or the freshest seafood.

The beach itself is a watersports paradise. Miles of golden sand, crystal clear water and incredible waves. Grab a Surf Board, Kayak or a Stand-Up Paddleboard and head on down to this pristine beach, less than five minutes walk from the house.

If a sunbathe and a good book are more your thing, the Avon estuary beach is a calmer, quieter spot for you to relax and unwind. Whatever you choose to do - White Horses provides the ideal base to enjoy this incredible location any time of the year.

The 'Whole House' accommodation comprises the following:

Main house - Sleeps 5: The front door opens into a light and airy entrance hall with cloakroom and a contemporary wooden staircase leads to the first floor. A classic shaker style kitchen with a Butlers sink, microwave and dishwasher, sits right in the heart of the house. This very large and well-equipped kitchen has been decorated to an extremely high standard, it has everything you could possibly need. Breakfast around the large farmhouse table with a freshly brewed coffee and the day's newspapers. Relax on the window seat and take in the view through large picture windows. With double doors leading out into the spectacular garden overlooking the river, the sea and the mesmerising Burgh Island, that leads you to the spacious L-shaped lounge area which is decorated in a fresh, contemporary design. A flat-screen TV and wood burner are available for cosy, cooler evenings.

The garden is what childhood dreams are made of. A huge lawn turns easily into a football pitch, a cricket field or simply an adventure playground! Hidden pathways, lead down to the estuary.

A wet room/utility area with showers, washing machine and dryer and plenty of hanging space for your wetsuit and swimwear.

Butter Bay - Sleeps 4 This Is a light and spacious apartment on the ground floor of this charming waterside home. Simple, modern furnishings and large airy rooms with unrivalled views over the River Avon. The apartment boasts a large double bedroom with fresh contemporary furnishings, a good-sized living area with a double sofa bed. A stylish and functional shower room with disabled access and a modern open plan kitchenette equipped with everything you need. Perfect for the small group of friends or family.

Outside there is a small, shady terrace area with seating, ideal for an alfresco lunch or a sunny breakfast.

Island View - Sleeps 4: Bedroom three boasts a large en-suite (With disabled access) double with fresh contemporary furnishings.
Island View offers wonderful first-floor accommodation within this breathtaking coastal home. With far-reaching views towards Bigbury Bay and the iconic Burgh Island, the apartment overlooks the River Avon in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With spacious accommodation including a generous sized double bedroom and a modern en-suite shower room. A lounge with a double sofa bed and a well-equipped kitchen. Modern, fresh and clean lines dominate this light and airy space. There are two small shared terrace seating areas outside, perfect for sundowners and alfresco dining.

River View - Sleeps 4: A tasteful, beautifully designed first-floor apartment with double en-suite bedroom. It offers breathtaking views of the Avon Estuary from every window. A well designed, contemporary lounge with a sofa bed and a modern kitchen, stocked with everything you might need. Relax with a glass of something chilled as you watch the sun setting over Burgh Island from the small shared outdoor terrace. A wonderful and peaceful getaway in this traditional Devon village.

Under Folly Studio – Sleeps 2: is located at the rear of the property.

A word from our owner

White Horses has a history so rich and vibrant, it's impossible to put it all into words. If walls could talk then the ones here would certainly have a few stories to tell.

Generations of our family have holidayed at our beautiful riverside home and over the years we’ve almost become a permanent fixture in the village. There are so many of us, when we turn up we never know who else in the family we’re going to bump into.

When we’re here we don’t want to be anywhere else and when we’re anywhere else the only place we want to be is back in Bantham.

All the children love it here. particularly the large garden - Great for hide and seek, boules and building dens.

The hidden steps which lead down to a secret jetty where on an outgoing tide we can leap into the water and let the ‘Swoosh’ carry us down the estuary. Hours and hours of fun and memories that will last forever.
